Kesha and Renee Rapp Revamp ‘Tik Tok’ Diddy Lyric

Kesha Updates Lyrics in Surprise Coachella Performance

At Coachella on Sunday (April 14), Kesha surprised fans by revising the opening lyric of her 2009 hit “Tik Tok” during a performance with Reneé Rapp. The song originally mentioned Diddy, who is currently embroiled in sexual assault and abuse allegations and a federal sex-trafficking investigation.

Kesha’s Bold Lyric Revision

In the original version of “Tik Tok” from Kesha’s album “Animals,” the lyrics go: “Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P. Diddy/ Grab my glasses, I’m out the door, I’m gonna hit this city.”

During Rapp’s set at Coachella, Kesha took the stage and altered the lyrics to: “Wake up in the mornin’ like, ‘F— P. Diddy.'” Both artists even flipped the bird during this rebellious moment.

Refusing any confusion, Kesha reiterated her new lyric with a tweet post-performance:

“WAKE UP IN THE MORNING LIKE F— P DIDDY,” Kesha tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday night.

Kesha and Reneé Rapp’s Collaboration

Not the first time sharing the stage, Kesha and Rapp previously performed Kesha’s “Your Love Is My Drug” in Brooklyn. Rapp expressed her admiration, referring to Kesha as one of her idols who influenced her with their unapologetic perfection.

The Legacy of “Tik Tok”

Released in 2009 and a chart-topper in early 2010, “Tik Tok” held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine weeks, solidifying its place in music history.
